Description

The Surgical Technologist program instructs you on collaborating with and assisting surgeons, nurses, and additional healthcare personnel throughout surgical procedures.

NCCT TS-C 

CERTIFICATION

PREREQUSITE

High School Diploma or GED

Program applicants must meet ONE of the following requirements:

  • Associate’s degree, or higher

  • Enrolled in college/university-level degree program related to medical field

  • Hold current certification in Sterile Processing, or related field.

  • Min. two (2) yrs related experience: Surgical technology experience not required but must be w/in clinical/medical/healthcare environment. Direct patient care experience required.

  • Employer Sponsorship: Sponsorship form signed by prospective employer agreeing to host graduate for post-program surgical cases (scrubs) as full-time/part-time employee, extern, or apprentice – required to attain TS-C certification.

SKILLS

  • Operating room procedures; Surgical equipment handling; Sterilization techniques; Surgical instruments; Anesthesia assistance; Preoperative preparation; Postoperative care; Aseptic techniques; Surgical procedures; Patient safety.

OUTCOME

  • Maintain sterility in surgical environments.

  • Manage the inventory of medical supplies and equipment.

  • Assist healthcare practitioners during surgical procedures.

  • Prepare biological specimens for laboratory analysis.

  • Sterilize medical instruments and equipment.

CLINICAL REQUIRMENTS

  • Completed Case Documentation including a minimum of 125 surgical cases, required for full TS-C national certification, issued through the NCCT

  • Students not enrolled in an employer or academic sponsored program must complete this clinical requirement before attempting the TS-C national certification exam
